The Diamond Building is a truly inspirational building in the heart of the University of Sheffield’s central campus. The six-storey building enjoys specialist teaching facilities including a range of lecture theatres, seminar rooms, nineteen laboratories, open-plan learning spaces, library & IT services, and space for informal study including The Diamond Kitchen. Its design has been awarded by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors in 2016 in the ‘Design Through Innovation’ awards.
The seven tiered lecture theatres, exhibition space in the dedicated basement atrium along with bespoke event catering in addition to the airy feel of the ‘Diamond Kitchen’ on the ground floor, have enabled us to provide a truly exceptional flexible conference & catering option which has been a huge success since its opening in September 2015.

Our dedicated management team, led by Deborah Tilbrook & Louisa Critchlow along with Head Chef Joe Berry have redesigned Inox into a multi-faceted event & food business which has evolved into the type of venue our customers told us they wanted. Whether for a conference for 350 delegates in one of the five dedicated & flexible meeting facilities in The Edge meeting rooms to a social occasion in The Edge Bar or a dedicated catering event in The Edge Café this facility was designed with the ability to deliver on a wide range of event types. Moreover, the design of the building allows us to incorporate all these elements to provide truly bespoke events for our clients, notwithstanding the additional facility of the Paddock at the back of The Edge which provides for summer barbecues & marquees etc.
Located in the beautiful Edwardian Firth Court is Firth Hall; a beautiful venue for prestigious awards dinners, gala events, weddings & of course graduation ceremonies & celebrations.
With the availability to cater for 220 dinner guests & for 400 for drinks receptions the hall is a hugely attractive proposition for those most important of occasions. The gardens to the rear of Firth Court provide a sumptuous surrounding for Champagne receptions too & altogether add a fantastic heritage offering to the venues available at the University of Sheffield.
Students’ Union Auditorium
The refurbished Student Union Auditorium, situated within the Student Union Building on the central campus provides for an additional tiered seated theatre (in addition to those within the Diamond Building). With 390 seats, all with flip-out desks for laptops etc. the auditorium really is a very modern & flexible option for presentations & meetings where the requirement for state-of-the-art AV is of paramount importance.
Easily accessible from the ground floor of the Students Union Building, the auditorium works incredibly well with the nearby Octagon Centre & Inox.
The Octagon Centre
The greatest number of conference delegates within one space can be held within the University of Sheffield at the Octagon Centre; 1,250 delegates can he hosted on the ground level & on tiered seating around the periphery.
All of the seating can easily be removed to reveal 870 square metres of space for a maximum of 64 shell scheme exhibition stands.
The Octagon Centre is an ideal central venue for large conferences with added syndicate spaces available within the Octagon Centre itself but additionally using any one of the eight meeting spaces at Inox, the Student Union Auditorium & the Diamond Building which is just a short distance away.
