Central to the opening of The Diamond Building in September 2015 was the launch of The Diamond Kitchen, the café in the foyer of the building.
Our opening project plan had by necessity been detailed & included recruitment, health & safety provision, marketing, layout design, café fittings & installation, delivery of furnishings, EPOS till system programing, product delivery, storage design, training of the team & of course ‘dry-runs’ for all staff pre-opening etc. We had a clear project plan for the seven days before opening when we were assured access to The Diamond Kitchen by the building contractors to complete our plan.
As is often the situation with the ‘hand-over’ of a new building deadlines get “squeezed” & that was the case here; rather than having seven days to implement our plan we actually received THREE!! We received access at 4pm on the Friday afternoon before a 9am opening on the following Monday morning.
Our management team galvanised, coached & inspired their teams to deliver & that is exactly what we achieved – seven days of pre-opening work successfully delivered in THREE without a customer ever knowing any difference.

The Diamond Kitchen is now one of hUStle & bUStle’s highest footfall businesses with great food & drink, fantastic design & layout and a hugely experienced & flexible team which responds positively to every situation that arises.
